Maison Carr’s Creating Confidence workshop comes from Karen’s own experience of learning to bake, it’s therapeutic effects,

and the self-worth and satisfaction that comes from the process of creating and giving of yourself and the bounty you've made.

What started with school events and village coffee mornings, this charitable endeavour for the local community

has grown in reputation and ambition.

Creating Confidence workshops are about learning to focus your mind and body, bringing a cohesion within the group,

their wider communities and developing skills that boost confidence and promote good mental health.

Karen believes baking, icing and decorating cakes can help with physical dexterity and strength,

whilst learning to follow a recipe in a relaxed environment promotes literacy,

self esteem and instils a sense of fulfilment and wellbeing.

 

Skeptics may question whether shaking a few sprinkles atop a cupcake

can truly make an impact on one’s life?

It can!

 

In a life that may lack purpose or confidence in one's abilities,

it’s a small step that says,

‘I did that!’

Once a workshop request has been received, Karen will discuss with the group organiser, the level required.

This will depend on the participants capabilities and the onsite facilities available to the organisation.

From creation to completion, the workshop aims are empowerment of individuals and cohesion within their communities.

The simplest way to explain the concept is by a bespoke tier system.

 

Tier 1

Baking cupcakes with participant interaction from scratch, onsite.

(This will depend on the organisation having adequate cooking facilities.)

Learning to follow a simple icing recipe and decorating cakes through to finish.

Goodie bags are presented to encourage baking in the future.

(Equipment will be supplied for use during the workshop.)

 

Tier 2

Pre baked ‘Maison Carr’ cupcakes are supplied with participants learning to follow

a simple icing recipe and decorating cakes through to finish.

Goodie bags are presented to encourage baking in the future.

(Equipment will be supplied for use during the workshop.)

 

Tier 3

Pre baked ‘Maison Carr’ cupcakes, icing and decorations are supplied with students decorating cakes

through to finish, including any assistance required by the participants so they may enjoy

and interact fully in the workshop.
